Today’s Monday Morning Inspiration is all about how we parent our children.
This quote speaks to the heart of parenting. I love it because it’s true for parenting children at any age – whether we are parenting toddlers, teenagers, or giving guidance to our adult children.
Contrary to what the world says, it’s not about what we do for a living, how much money we make, or what kind of car we drive. As parents, our greatest responsibility is parenting our children. Because they belong to God. He entrusted them to our care. And, although we make mistakes as parents, God has equipped us with all we need to raise our children with love.
So, this week, I’m going to think about, and pray about, how I treat my children. I hope you’ll do the same.
Here are some things to consider when parenting our children…
- Do you listen to them even when they are fighting with their siblings or telling you the same story over and over again?
- Are you giving them a chance to make decisions or are you doing all the problem solving for them?
- Do you pray for them each day?
- Are you praying for yourself as a parent and asking for God’s grace to parent them with love?
- How often do you follow the golden rule . . . to treat others the way you want to be treated?
And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them. – Luke 6:31 (ESV)
